Dwight D. Eisenhower:
Only a fool would try to deprive working men and working women of their right to join the union of their choice.
Frank Lloyd Wright:
If capitalism is fair then unionism must be. If men have a right to capitalize their ideas and the resources of their country, then that implies the right of men to capitalize their labor.
Abraham Lincoln:
Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.
Martin Luther King, Jr.:
In our glorious fight for civil rights, we must guard against being fooled by false slogans, as ‘right-to-work.’ It provides no ‘rights’ and no ‘works.’ Its purpose is to destroy labor unions and the freedom of collective bargaining… We demand this fraud be stopped.
Thomas Jefferson:
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned — this is the sum of good government.
legion, some woman called msnbc last weekend while stuck on PA turnpike to say that the authority wasn’t doing enough to get her down the road. She was stuck in car for 10 hours she said. My question is why on earth would you get in a car at midnight during a blizzard. And people wonder why obama is pushing nanny-state.
hi everyone,
Finally back in the city.
Sorry I missed the brownstoner outing last night.
Good luck Etson and I hope to see you again at a future gathering.
mini rant;

I seriously would have gone Brooklyn on that driver if I was there to witness it.
It apparently happened in the middle of the night on Wed. and the neighborhood is already on the case of who’s at fault and how the trees will be replaced.
In case you guys didn’t know. I am big on trees.
I’m even a member of the American Chestnut Foundation.
“Anyone solve the mystery of who was avoiding rob yesterday morning? Denton is currently the leading suspect (neither rob nor denton were there last night).”
I’ve been kinda busy the last few days so haven’t experienced the full glory of the OT. What did I miss? I certainly wouldn’t avoid rob, altho I would avoid trying to have a deep conversation with him 🙂
g10, get used to that 1k going up every yr. city is broke so they’ll be jacking up pptx, water fee, garbage fee,…. and of course the unionized staff’s contracted increases,…
