  1. Kens, that’s not an Eamies Chair. The Barcelona chair is a beauty and a true classic! It was designed by Mies Van Der Rohe (one of my all time fave architects) for the Barcelona Pavilion for the ’29 Expo.

    btw, it’s still manufactured by Knoll and can be had for about $4000.

  2. Snark, I meant “Eames Era”. I know the orig’inal is by Mies and that whole set costs like 5 grand if its the real thing. The cheapest good reproduction I could find online was still around a grand. I scored a killer deal for it on Craigslist as someone in Hoboken bought them and then had to move to Asia for a job relocation and only had it for 8 months. It looked brand new like no one has ever sat on it so I didn’t even bargain and took it off his hands for $350. I think it was one of the best deals I’ve ever found.

  3. Rob;

    There is an E-bay broker on Flatbush Ave and around 6th Ave, not too far from you. You might want to consider using them for two reasons:

    -for a 10% cut, they do all the work for you: taking the photo, uploading the ad onto e-bay and even shipping;

    -they will tell you upfront whether or not it is worth listing the lamp. I had a couple of prints that I thought were valuable. When I took them to this broker, he looked up what they were fetching in the market, and told me not to bother.

    Another possibility is to take it to the PS321 flea market on the weekends. They have several vendors who deal in mid-20th century stuff.
