  1. oh and i dont know, i feel bad for this fabulous lady (sorta). so what she doesnt like to wear organic hemp rags and prefers something a little more glamourous? i havent read the responses but she she said it started on park slope parents, probably a bunch of self righteous people jumped down her throat or something.

  2. “I had no idea that people would reach out just to brutalize someone they don’t even know. That people actually spend their time criticizing others publicly.”

Clearly she never read the OT, or most any Brownstoner thread really, before launching her blog.

  3. i hope this okay to post here, but i just got this email from my dog walker..

    Dear Clients:

A cute little dog named Sugar ran away from her mom in Prospect Park this morning. She is the cutest little dog – a cross between Corgie and French Bulldog. She is wearing a pink coat and was dragging an retractable leash behind her. The mom is worried she has gotten herself snared in the woods!!! Needless to say, she is beside herself criss-crossing the park in this snow storm looking for her girl. If you are heading out for a snow walk with your own dog this afternoon or evening, please keep an eye out for little Sugar and if you find her, call the mom at 347-603-2016 or 718-622-3833.

You can see a photo of Sugar at http://www.fidobrooklyn.org/rescue/adoption.html#lost

    Thank you!

    At the Aria you have

    a Jean Georges steakhouse,
a Michael Mina seafood place (awesome bacon wrapped sturgeon)
a Spanish restaurant (chef Andres Soriano)
    an Italian restaurant (Serio Maccione)

Nova Zembla, on the NW corner of Atlantic & Henry, is going out of business on March 31st. They have some really nice stuff. Mirrors and coat racks made out of reclaimed tin ceilings. Beautiful tables and bookcases made from reclaimed teak and rosewood. Price markdowns look good, too.

    Here’s the link, FYI:

No, I’m not getting kickbacks. Just thought if anyone needs furniture, rugs, lamps, etc., you ought to go while the getting is still good.

  6. Between the story about the tween salon, and trying to get my head around the asking price for today’s HOTD (see interior photos) and reading the “Fabulous” blog, I can definitely say that today is “slit your wrist” day on Brownstoner.

  7. The vagaries of doing business in the middle east…

Feb. 10 (Telegraph) — An Arab ambassador has called off his wedding after discovering his wife-to-be who wears a
face-covering veil is bearded and cross-eyed.
The envoy had only met the woman a few times, during which she had hidden her face behind a niqab, the Gulf News reported.
After the marriage contract was signed, the ambassador
attempted to kiss his bride-to-be. It was only then that he
discovered her facial hair and eyes.
The ambassador told an Islamic Sharia court in the United Arab Emirates he was tricked into the marriage as the woman’s mother had shown his own mother pictures of her sister instead of his bride-to-be.
He sued for the contract to be annulled and also demanded the woman pay him 500,000 dirhams (£85,000) for clothes, jewelry and other gifts he had bought for her.
The court annulled the contract but rejected the
    ambassador’s demand for compensation.
The report did not identify the ambassador.
