you are right, Circus Time is real ghetto,
as are the Puerto Rican ices which aren’t even ice cream but are more like frozen juices with milk mixed in.
those really bring back memories of living over a crack corner in ENY. lol.
I like Friendly’s ice cream and Fribbles. Butter Crunch. Pistachio.
I used to love Freihofer’s baked goods, especially their soft chocolate chip cookies (much better than Entenmann’s which taste terribly artificial). That’s all we used to get in Vermont in the 70s and early 80s.
Legion, we saw a documentary the other night at Lincoln center focusing on post-modern dance choreographers working now in NYC. Several, of course, rehearse in Brooklyn. During footage of one group rehearsing, you could hear the unmistakable Mr. Softee jingle in the background. Lots of chuckles in the audience.
We still get the knife guy on our block, and in summer Mr. Softee comes around right before dinner (arrgh).
