Is there anyone here of a certain age who can’t recite all the ingredients of a Big Mac, in order, based on the old commercials? And someone please tell me why commercials aren’t as good as they used to be, or am I just being overly nostalgic.
I love the McDonald’s “You Deserve A Break Today” jingle (link below), though I do find it odd that their 35th Anniversary commercial from March 1971 was all about the cleanliness of the restaurant and nothing whatsoever about the food. It’s not like it was Taco Bell after the rats took over.
TextperV, since you often mention having kids soon, would that be an issue in the new city – ie not having family around to help out if needed to watch the little buggers? would you stop working or work part time if you popped out the little buggers?
“indedetured servitude”, why should public employees have it better than the rest of us in private sector? I only know one person in my circle who only works 40 hours a week. No one else gets over time and very few receive bonuses.
“High on that list would be banks and big businesses of all kinds. If left up to most of them, indentured servitude would still be in place, if not outright slavery.”
Stare…at…your…screen…again…..Benson. Yes, it’s still there.
rf, not the prevalent norm but I see/hear of high 200k’s for even 3 bdrm pre-war units in the historic district – ie a buddy of mine is looking in that area. he told me more pop up recently via bank foreclosured listings. we’re not talking about those real real real nice ones in the historic district.
“If you have a potential job (offer) but need to relocate to a city you absolutely hate and every time you go there you’re soul dies a little bit more. What would you do?”
Don’t go if you really hate the place that much. Being miserable would probably affect your job performance.
(I know I am changing job location without having planned to leave NYC initially, but I certainly don’t dislike the new city)
I think you are all quite misinformed about a lot of finance positions these days. Sure, a lot of money was made up to 2007, even into 2008 but many are not reaping large bonuses anymore.

Anyway….
What’s for lunch?
Maybe food will cheer me up.
wow – those are impressive salaries. No wonder house prices in Baltic Street are $3.8m and $4.2m. It’s those MTA workers driving up prices.

LOL, yeah I guess those car trips to Lake George and Mount Airy Lodge were “American decadence.”
Next time I see my marathon running, non-smoking 63 year-old father I’ll let him know that the townhouse jet-set thinks he made too much money.
