  1. “ll I’m saying is that banks are villified for paying billions in bonuses, and that these bonuses are generally paid to a small group of people, and don’t trickle down to the rank and file. So the hundreds of thousands of rank and file who work at these banks do NOT deserve to be villified.”

My e-hubby is right. So, let’s vilify dave! We can all agree on that, right? ;^)

  2. Proper criticism of unions should be benson’s citation of their resistance to change, not their attempted surety of jobs for their members. I’m in a union, I could just as well not be. The only people who get involved in the union are total headcases. One more promotion and I’ll be out of the bargaining unit, so it’ll be moot.

  3. m4l, if you re-read my post, I said big bonuses. I’m not saying people aren’t well paid, and I agree that $200k with is well paid. All I’m saying is that banks are villified for paying billions in bonuses, and that these bonuses are generally paid to a small group of people, and don’t trickle down to the rank and file. So the hundreds of thousands of rank and file who work at these banks do NOT deserve to be villified.

  4. “I have nothing but contempt for the UFT and its recent efforts to block education reform in NYS. Even a pro-union guy like Joe Klein of Time magazine wrote of his diddain for this union.

Want more examples of their arrogance? The NY Post is running a series on teachers who are held in the “rubber room”. ”

    Yeah, I’m with benson x 2.

    There’s unions, and there’s unions. I’m not knee-jerk anti-union, but I am definitely anti-UFT.

Anyone put a kid thru the NYC public schools (as I have) and loved the UFT?

  5. Patterson just came out and said that New York State’s budget gap next year will be $750MM, or 10%, wider than projected two weeks ago because Wall Street’s cash bonuses are less than forecast.
