“let’s learn from other’s mistakes, or even our own with the great depression, the WPA while admirable did not help us recover.
In the end, it was a change of monetary policy that helped us recover. strengthening the dollar.”
Legion- yes- regulatory changes that were weakened or tossed out by the Republicans.
I believe the number jumped up substantially after people’s severance packages came to an end. They were technically already unemployed but the numbers weren’t accurately reflected b/c they were not yet eligible to file while still getting payout packages.
Besides- The economy was like a snowball in an avalanche. Once it’s started rolling, it quickly gains speed and size plummeting down the mountain. Not to easy to just stop at a moments notice.
the 8% unemployment was based on incomplete #s and information- the truw scope of the damage had not beed fully assessed. The mess was deeper than most people knew or could have guessed. Economists across the board agreed we were on the brink of a depression. Obama’s emergency policies prevented that, to the extent he had any damage control. You know it, though, don’t you
“They are looking to spend anywhere from $500k to $900k and would like at least two bedrooms and two bathrooms.”
“If they decide they want a full home,”
So should i go to the forum thread and muck it up by suggesting Bay Ridge.
HSAs as primary healthcare coverage is probably the worst idea i’ve heard yet. lay-people aren’t doctors. its not the same as the rest of the consumer world, plan and simple. i don’t even thinki have to explain this one.

lol, blowfish, yeah, you don’t have to understand how the Penicillin molecule clogs up bacterial receptor sites either, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work to cure you. Your dismissive statement is quite shortsighted. I’m surprised at you!
and besides, Legion, even if you did have a patient demanding 5 mris for a sprained ankle, tha patient would already have to pay out of pocket for that- healthcare payers have sophisticated “care management” departments that reject requests for patently unneccesary or redundant procedures. don’t fix problems that don’t exist.
My father, who is a born and bred Republican and voted for McCain watched it and said he now has a new appreciation for Obama. NEVER thought I’d hear those words from his mouth. He said it he was embarassed by how poorly the GOP could not even seem to grasp basic principles of economics.

… and yet, a year after the Obama stimulus plan was supposed to keep unemployment below 8% (remember?), unemployment is in the double digits, with real unemployment approaching 20%.
the Obama administration has taken to counting, “jobs saved” as a routine indicator of jobs growth. WTF? That’s like saying you just got a paycut of 50% but it could be worse, you could have lost your job entirely! That and a bag of peanuts will not pay your rent in the end.
stop believing the hype, the President is following a plan based on economic theory that has been disproven time and again. wouldn’t be so bad, if he weren’t also attempting a healthcare plan based on equally bad footing.

No one said unemployment is a stimulus- its a stopgap.
Um, I believe that the unemployment extension WAS part of President Obama’s “stimulus” package. HE called it that.
