OK, someone please explain how ‘Chinaman’ is derogatory and what one is supposed to say. Is ‘Chinese’ bad as well?
Even after 10 years the patchwork of racial / national origin sensitivities here continues to confuse me.
And yes, you can call me ‘limey’.

i can’t stand when people refer to hispanics as “Spanish”
but there are many puerto ricans, ecquadorians, etc who DID always refer to themselves as spanish!
i think it sounds better than hispanic tho. id rather call myself english than call myself a caucasoid. (is that what whities are technically called?) or is it anglo? identifying myself as just English sounds better, even tho im not from england, who cares.
Sasenach!
DIBS, does it sound like ‘poppy’ or ‘pappy’?

Poppy. Does yours sound more like “Beoch?” LOL
I’m with Dirty on that particular pet peeve. It is much worse for me than ‘your’ for ‘you’re’. Which drives me itchy.
“derogatory,somewhat akin to “Chinaman” ”
