  1. why do you believe there are solutions? civilizations, countries, rise and fall, and come and go. why do you think there really is a way out of the messes we slowly created? there might not be. it might be time to just cut our losses and move on.

i cant think of a single good thing the future possibly could bring other than true holographic video games, but even that’s lame and not at all that much to look forward to.

    i think america’s 200+ years was a good run.

    *rob*

  2. Precisely, legion. I couldn’t take them seriously after that. I went to check my email.

The republicans tried to do something? I missed that. Most of what I’ve seen them doing is saying “No”, and looking stony faced, like 6 year olds who were being forced to eat brussels sprouts!

  3. benson,

you are right about changing minds and debate.
I think, we have a healthy debate going on here on a routine basis.

“I thought it was a brilliant move, as well as putting all the American of different races behind the Governor,”

    All TWO of them?! LOL!!

    cobble,

hey, that was 2 out of 3 people in the television picture!

gotta go, but I’ll be back in a bit.

  4. I thought holding the republican response where they did made a lot of sense, actually. Admittedly, he stuffed the chamber with family, friends and staff, but it humanized him, and made him seem more in touch with the audience, unlike the Jindal disaster.

  5. Great, Benson, nothing like approving of a total disrespect of the office. As members of the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, both of these men should have been sitting in their robes with the rest of them. If Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who has cancer, can sit there, then they can. Unless one or both of them were hit by a car and were in the hospital, they should have been there. Period.

  6. cobble,

lol, yeah, I kind of see what you’re saying now, they were looking a little festive like they were having a shadow government meeting.

    true,
reading through all the OT responses, I was reading the posts more like a condemnation of republicans for trying.

and yes, the republicans did look a little stiff during the speech, the President was affable and made some good jokes, like when he said, facing the room on the left; “I thought I’d get more of a response from that one”
and the cameras cut to Boehner looking like a manequin.

    it was funny.

Yeah, the President has his work cut out for him, but he has to be practical about the solutions. and there are solutions.
