Tetleys British Blend is a very good supermarket brand tea for those who love a good strong classic back tea. While I’d prefer to always have an actual good British tea on hand that’s not usually the case.
“but i remember when they owned the Bossert on Montague”
bxgrl, the JWs still own the Bossert. And it’s in amazing shape, inside and out. There was a failed sale of it for $92MM or so last year to a buyer who was going to turn it into student housing, as was done with the St. George Hotel on Henry Street. Thank goodness that sale fell through, or at least has been delayed.
I love old theaters, such history. We actually thought about having our wedding at The Loews but it’s so insanely ginourmous that we’d have looked insane with our small little wedding party.
We do like to go for the old movie nights. They have someone come in to play the big organ (TWSS) before the show and during intermission. Lots of times they’ll have one of the actors from the movie come and introduce it and take questions after. These events always draw a lot of old movie buffs.
“Typical Brit. How about we force you to use lipton tea bags for the rest of your life?”
Lipton is borderline drinkable. Unfortunately it is a semi-British company that inflicts it on us. At least it’s normal tea, not flavored stuff. Tetley is better.
That’s really interesting, THL! The twinkling ceiling sounds like the old Loew’s Paradise in the Bronx. I find it so interesting that the JW’s do this. It seems a little out of their mission statement so to speak but i remember when they owned the Bossert on Montague. They restored that as well.
s/b classic BLACK tea.
Thanks everyone for the photog advice.
Thanks, biff. I heard they were selling but not that it failed to go through.
Etson- you mean I should throw out the Vanilla caramel and eggnog teabags? (No joke- they exist. 🙂
Student housing? *CRINGE*
