arkady- yes they do. As I said, I don’t like lot of their policies but when it comes to disaster relief they are one of the best.
cargar- I don’t enjoy the debates with benson, nor do I instigate. I respond and that’s a whole other animal. If you want to talk about instigating you should look at rob or the evil dave. Other than that, please don’t opine on the nature of my relationship with benson without considering all the reasons he upsets me. And now I’m done with the benson/me issue. As you said- everyone can just skip those posts they don’t like. (I wanted that little narrow house).
sometimes it’s better to wait and see what happens and who the players are before donating. It will take years if not decades to rebuild and there will be ample opportunities. Just sayin…
“DH:
UGH! I didn’t know that the Red Cross was soo bad, so what happenes to our donations to them for various relief efforts?”
a small portion goes to the current cause – and the rest goes towards “future events” and administrative costs.
There was actually a bunch of good studies done about the Red Cross after 9/11 about the amount collected and the amount distributed to the cause. Nauseating.
Kens, for what it’s worth, Wyclef Jean is probably in a better position to get stuff done and aid to Haiti than anyone else in that country. Gem is absolutely correct. He has an impeccable, and incorruptable reputation. His foundation and aid agency has been doing work there for years, working with the actual people he’s helping, not the gov’t or corrupt agencies. 60 Minutes did a piece on him within the last year, if you want to look it up. He is an amazing man, and a true humanitarian.
OK done with donating for now. I’ll also wait for a work announcement to come in cause we tend to donate to any disaster relief as a corporation and my company will match dollar for dollar any donation that I’ll make.
Cgar, some people do not understand that not everyone shares their worldview and are essentially intolerant to other peoples opinions. intolerance is actually the one thing i do not like about this site.
like the pink song… im just mizzundastood, even tho lots of people here like to play armchair psychologist.
