I found a Bobby Flay recipe on foodtv.com for measurements.
I’m going to stick with Mom’s ingredients, cause I love her meatballs. Not traditional Italian at all. But they are delish.
Growing up she’d make them and put them on top of sauteed spinach with slivers of garlic. No sauce.
I’m tired of being an adult. I want my Mommy to cook for me everyday.
Quite true, denton. It should also be noted that news of Haiti’s freedom scared the crap out of the US, as they were not dim to the implications of wholesale slave revolts in the US, which in 1804, was escalating up to major slaveholding nation status, especially in the south. The US gov’t did all it could, covertly, to make sure Haiti failed as a nation. Skipping ahead a couple of hundred years, we also did little to stop the horror that was the Papa and Baby Doc regime, because our national interest and focus was summed up by the idea that it was better to have brutal fascist dictators than communist ones.
Haiti is responsible for a lot of its own mess, but they didn’t get help or attention from the west when it mattered, and could have made a difference in the kind of government they had and have, which could have made all the difference in the world in terms of economic development, infrastructure, and help for its lower classes.
M4L, I’ve been to LA and done the touristy walks at all those places. Much rather see a museum and heard good things about Getty.
Cobble, I saw that, thanks. I just find it hard to believe that those smaller organizations are not corrupt. I much rather stick with the more known names.
Gem, My condolences to your sister in law’s aunt. This is a tragedy of epic proportions. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.
“Edwidge Danticat, an award—winning Haitian—American author was unable to contact relatives in Haiti. She sat with family and friends at her home in Miami, looking for news on the Internet and watching TV news reports.

Salvation Army disaster relief has strict rules about keeping religion out of their effort. in addition they work with top notch disaster relief professionals and agencies from all over the world- many, maybe most of whom are not in the Salvation Army. They are part of a very effective volunteer network that has proven themselves over and over again for speed of response, and efficiency. I don’t like their evangelism, but that’s kept separate from their disaster relief program which I admire no end. And they put at least 85% of their donation into the relief effort, not fancy offices.
“i am concerned over Expert’s use of coriander as that’s not typically italian….”
Geez, do meatballs need to be typically Italian?
Don’t get me started on the Red Cross.
They should have plenty of $$$ for Haiti considering very little donations made for 9/11, Katrina and Tsunami victims actually went to those causes.
I have a few personal stories about my grandfather’s dealings with the Red Cross in WWII that I’d be happy to share off the blog.
Red Cross..never.
Gem, I can’t have cheese.

Denton:
I said: It’s true and Red and Blue which is the colors of Haiti’s flag is sorta an affectionate way to “rep” Haiti
