Re: hotel minibar– minibars are a loss leader for hotels. They lose money on them, and they expect to lose money on them. They have them because the guest like them, so, they want to attract the guests. I think this is relevant because the hotel has it for the guest to be happy, not to make money, so, purpose was served. Yes, the premium on the food is supposed to set of fthe labor costs to some degree, but i doubt the hotel cares.
DH, that Jon Stewart/ John Oliver bit was hilarious. Ripped the RNC’s talking points memo to shreds. Bunch of idiots.
Does anyone remember an article in the New Yorker from years ago, detailing the NYPD’s counter-terrorism efforts? It weas fascinating. THe take-away was that this city does a hell of a lot more to protect this city against terrorism thatn the federal gov’t.
Kens, you are right abuot the Okeefe exhibit. It was excellent. Did you read her biography?
I was also impressed with how great a body she had. The Steiglitz photos were impressive not only for now but also more impressive for their context of when they were taken.
Okeefe was certainly a leader in establishing that women could be viewed as serious artists in the US.
S/he can’t have worked for a TARP recipient bank.
Everyone that does knows that the right answer is: order room service and bill it to the US taxpayer 😉
Have any of you completey changed careers in your 30’s or 40’s? and by that, I mean had to go to school and get a new degree or just abandon everything knew for something new?
Biff,
will have to check with my people. I’ll have them get back to yours.
Lesbiman & Kens, have you ever been to the O’keefe museum in Santa Fe?
