  1. gemini, although there’s definitely a lot of things in Thailand that are derived from India, the food has come a long way. thai food is much more refined than Indian. the curries are typically a “green curry” and are far less prevalent throughout the dishes (I’m not a curry fan).

Indian food has no where near the “heat” that thai food has and uses a much broader range of chilies. Also, it is more fresh fish & seafood based than most Indian cuisine.

India has never incorporated the breadth to their cuisine that Thailand does. The only thing missing though would be the great indian flatbreads, which Thai cooking completely dispenses with.

  2. “Expert, remember my husband is Trinidadian”

    Didn’t know about your husband.

“we are totally used to Flatbush style West Indian joints”

YES! It’s on Flatbush. But really far south on Flatbush. Very close to JFK. Once, we had a flight, checked our luggage in, didn’t go thru security yet and went and got some food from there and went back to JFK and got on our flight.

  3. Yeah THL – i was reading more into it – seems much stricter than good ol hippie land CA

maybe it’ll just start out that way and loosen up.

Looks like i’m stuck with my escalade driving dealer for now.

  4. There’s a really good West Indian (I think) vegetarian palce on Fulton St. in Bed Stuy/Crown heights.
Don’t know the cross streets or name of place. Small place, you point out (thru glass) what you want and they give you heaping servings of rice and all kinds of veggies. Maybe someone else knows of it.

I know I’m horrible with locations and names. But I just tell my partner, ‘I want to eat at the place that has blah, blah, blah’ and he takes me.
