legion- you are being disingenuous and you know it. What makes you think Michelle Obama feels entitled? That’s your interpretation, and you put it into an historical context so please, don’t try to get slippery about it now.
And for the record, I’ve always loved my country, even when I wasn’t proud of it.

bxgrl,
you are taking this way too personally, you say I am being disingenuous while you castigate me for making assumptions about other peoples statements.
why would I be disengenuous about how I feel about this nation which has given much to so many?
you may not feel that way, and again, that’s ok,
but I will say it again,
most americans do not feel ashamed of this nation,
plain and simple.
It’s not the start of anything. It is an analysis. My preliminary prediction doesn’t make it more or less likely to happen. I’d be curious which 8-10 seats you expect will flip.

lol. depressed, distraught, and hopelessness are very Western fauxmotions btw. 😉 im not being contrarian on that, but the suicide bombers fall into neither of those three categories.
I’m sorry if I hijacked this convo and made it about race. It’s just that for me, as a black woman, I cannot imagine my personal feelings about/readings into a lot of things not being influenced by who I am. I am so much more than just a black woman, a lesbian, an educated person. Those things certainly don’t define all that Snappy is, but it sure informs my opinion and outlook on many things. It’s like when people say, “I don’t see race, I just see the person.” That irks me because, while I am so much more than just a black person, I certainly don’t want you to ignore that I am a black person. To do so would be to ignore a part of who I am, where I came from, my culture, my history, my family. While I would never dare to speak for all black people or Mrs. Obama herself, I have yet to meet a black person whose outlook on life and their surroundings were not influenced by their history and personal experience, whether or not they attained higher education or social status of some sort.

Rob:
really?
then WHAT categories do they fall into?
angry – yes
usually uneducated – yes
what else then?
