“as a society we need to discuss, head on, what constitutes meaningful extension of life and allow the individual and family to make the decision where it ends, with a full understanding that healthcare is a limited resouce.”
of course legion, that’s the way it’s done in Europe, no? No heart transplants if you’re 80? But of course what you are suggesting is that dirty word ‘rationing’. A fine republican you are!
“how come so many people think that people have the right to charge however much they want for a house or rent, but that doctors shouldnt be allowed to charge however much they want for their services?”
Doctors who take insurance agree to charge a certain fee based on the insurance company sending them patients. It is voluntary on their part.
This may surprise you, but there are plenty of docs who do not take insurance at all. They’d rather treat well off patients.
why not just not allow ANY planes from ANY countries with ties to terrorism. is that so bad? seems like a super easy peasy solution to me. f*ck political correctness in situations like this.
“slopefarm,
Did you get scolded during your trip to Kenny’s restaurant?”
No, legion, my dining companion was an old Shopsin’s pro. I received very good counsel and stayed out of trouble.
Are we the only two people here who know what we are talking about? I would think anyone in the know on Shopsin’s would have jumped in. CGar? Arkady? Denton? Anyone?
Dave, I happen to agree with you, and I think that listing a dozen or so countries likely to produce terrorists is heading in that direction. I also think some of the overreactions at U.S. airports in the last few days are ridiculous! Newark was shut down for 6 hours Sunday night because 1 enthusiastic got walked on the wrong side of the barrier to go and meet a passenger? So, why not stop the one guy rather than inconvenience tens of thousands of people – I mean the TSA re-screened people who had already been on planes. And at least 3 incidents yesterday – alleged bomb material in California turned out to be honey! I’m all for safety, but this all or nothing approach makes zero sense to me.

No, more like picking randi up off the sidewalk with the plastic bag and throwing her into the trash.
