“why not just not allow ANY planes from ANY countries with ties to terrorism. is that so bad? seems like a super easy peasy solution to me. f*ck political correctness in situations like this.’–
that would mean no flights within this country.

Genius Pete, it would be hard to find a nation with as many links to Al “C-I-A” Duh than the U.S. Gov. I mean Carter and Reagan created the friggin’ organization to fight the Ruskies in Afghanistan…talk about state sponsored terrorism…

You know you just weaken your position by lashing out like that. You need to retreat, lay low and come up w/ something clever. No need to be a “Benson.”, talking about slapping people and sh*t.
of course legion, that’s the way it’s done in Europe, no? No heart transplants if you’re 80? But of course what you are suggesting is that dirty word ‘rationing’. A fine republican you are!

denton,
well, in effect what we have today is a defacto rationing of healthcare. it has to be so since it’s a limited resource. what is interesting about the american system is that ironically, it is the very poor or the very wealthy that get the full and extensive treatment, the wealthy because they can afford to pay, the very poor because they get the medicaid coverage that has been up until recently a medical “gold card” covering any and all treatments.
truth be told, it has been the democratic party which has exploited the class warfare angle to give the impression that most americans aren’t getting what the “rich” are getting in terms of healthcare coverage. A broad statement, yes, but I don’t recall republicans using those terms in approaching healthcare. the democrats know full well that this nation cannot afford to give every citizen a heart transplant or a home health aid.
republicans could have pushed more for healthcare reform when they had the ball, but look at what happened when Bush expanded drug coverage for the elderly, he was pilloried for it. you can’t win either way.

*rob*, the problem is that the airlines from most of these countries don’t fly directly to the U.S. Often they fly from the mideast or Africa to Amsterdam, Frankfurt or London, where their passengers then feed into U.S.-bound flights. So instead they have to target all citizens from the originating countries.
denton, I found that best doctors who actually went into medicine either don’t take insurance or belong to a hospital network because they don’t like dealing with insurance companies at all. My family went through a fair share of surgeries and one of my family members had a back surgery by a pretty well known spine surgeon and he told us right away that he’ll bill the insurance but if they give him even a small headache, we’ll have to folk over cash or fight with them ourselves because his job is hard enough and his priority is to get patients walking again and not deal with insurances.
The ophthalmologist that I went to basically gave me the same speech. When I asked him insurance question during the exam, he told me he knows nothing about insurance and to go deal with his office manager. He said he didn’t spend 10+ years in school to deal with bureaucracy and all he wanted to do is to treat and cure people. That’s why it made no difference to him what kind of insurance you walk in with and he takes him time the same with every patient because he has no clue who actually pays him what. I have enormous amount of respect for doctors like that.
