  1. Jester, my first almost 5 years out of college consisted of almost 1 year mooching off my grandparents and living with them in the projects, and then 4 1/2 years of living in an apartment that was only 725 a month (all to myself. on the LES!). did i save any money or attempt to pay my loans? noOooOOo. while i consider myself generally conscientious about most things, when it comes to finances i learned from the worst. and had absolutley zero education about finances… something that i think should be taught in school, hells beginning in middle school! we are forced to memorize stupid historical facts, learn how to find the square roots of numbers (when was the last time as an adult you needed to know the square root of something??) tho i am totally PRO math and science and think they are two most improtant subjects currently taught (poorly) in school, i think finance and personal responsibility should be #1. especially in today’s economic climate.

yeah maybe it SHOULD be smoething parents teach their kids… but newsflash, youd be shocked how many parents out there dont even know to manage their own money and pass on their shady ways to their kids, no matter how smart those kids might be.

    frustrating!!

i think my goal in 2010 is to be more frugal, if that’s even f’ing psosible.

  2. “i know! i dont have other debt. im good that way. im not someone with 50 credit cards maxing them out, i dont even have one! i live within my means! isnt that worth something?”

Yeah, doing something right means it doesn’t pay to go bankrupt!

  3. park slope is NOT a “ritzy” area, stop drinking the brooklyn/nyc kool ade!

high salary? lol maybe if i was a family of 11. im below the median i believe for nyc, and i dont want to discuss that tho.

i know! i dont have other debt. im good that way. im not someone with 50 credit cards maxing them out, i dont even have one! i live within my means! isnt that worth something?

there are weeks where my dog’s food consumption costs more than my weeks worth of food consumption. i love him tho, and it’s worth it, but still why cant he be considered a dependent? how is it any different than if i adopted a trendy chinese baby? actually chinese babies arent trendy anymore, somalian ones are.

  4. I’ve always thought the biggest determining factor in the lives of young people is how they will pay off their loans – it seems to be the primary force that drives that incessant phenomenon of post-collegiates locating out of the way neighborhoods to double up in.

  5. the worst part about my private loan was that it evaporated after 7 years.. like all debt (except for government ones) but i stupidly STUPIDLY contacted my school in good faith to pay it back, cuz i didnt know about that 7 year law :-/ oh well. you live you learn. if i could go in hiding for another 7 years like i did after college perhaps i could get away with it again?

people – NEVER give debtors your work number and stuff. they WILL call. give them a cell phone number on one of those pay as you go phones where dont have to sign up with your real name.
