  1. So far DIBS has been wrong all the way down. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. When prices do finally bottom out the real “schmucks” who have been wrong forever will declare themselves to be prophets.

  2. Arkady,
to quote Reagan; “…there you go again.”

Bush is retired in Texas and has had the good sense to keep quiet, unlike other previous presidents of late.

we are talking about real issues happening now.
We need to move away from Bush and towards a realistic accounting of current leadership and what they are doing.

  3. BHO, I’m quite happy and living a comfortable life in my brownstone while you rant and rave here, IN YOUR ALL CAPS like a crazy person.

Owning a home is about more than whether the price swings a few hundred thousand dollars. Once you learn that you may regain your sanity.

I disagree. BHO is doing us all a great service by warning us not to buy into the real estate hype. Not everyone can withstand a “couple hundred thousand swings” in their home value. Certainly, listening to the What, my hero, in 2007 saved me a bunch of dineros and no thanks to the perman bulls on this site.

  4. “Pete, yes, you’ve identified a problem. But the solution does not lie in bringing in someone without a sufficient understanding of how a particular system works. Outsiders can be good, but only to a point. This financial stuff is complex and we shouldn’t rely on someone with decent credentials in another field to “bring effective change.”

Agreed – the politicians are ultimately responsible for the decisions. They should get advice from this with detailed knowledge of what they are deciding, and bear in mind the in-built biases that advice might come with. For example, what’s wrong with getting finance and economics professors (like Bob Shiller) in to advise?

As for the Goldman Sachs alumni comments, you are right that there are too many. Hank Paulson got paid more than anybody in human history to take up a government post.

  5. I think she’s more qualified to make observations than you schmucks.

I claim no qualifications. Only espouse opinions.

With regard to brownstone prices, let’s let time decide who the schmucks are.

  6. but jessi,, you mentioned meeting one person (even if ugly) that hadn’t worked in the industry. You didn’t say what the person does, how high level, or what the person experiences is. Just a simple dismissal. And the others cite a stat that % is lower under Obama or whatever…not what % it was or is now.. just innuendo.

  7. Legion, I saw that info about the ex-detainees on TV last night. it was very, very disturbing.

This is what happens when we let the left-wing liberal nutjobs have a voice in something as new and as serious as these terrorists.

New laws for new crimes. They never should have been let out and this is proof.
