  1. denton,

you and I both know that we’re all dancing around the issue at hand. bottom line, the TSA needs to not only continue basic screening techniques and include targeted profiling of based on country of origin and verbal questions.

    in this case, it would have been sufficient to ask the guy;
“why were you excluded from Britain, and why did you buy a one way ticket all cash?”

  2. bxgrl,
you ask; “what does it accomplish to throw people into Gitmo and leave them there to rot?”

for one, it would have severely impaired this most recent terrorist incident on flight 253.

    for another; read the following,

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Mohammed Ismail was released from the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in early 2004 and sent back to Afghanistan to be set free.

A guard talks with a detainee at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, earlier this year.

Within four months, the U.S. military said, he was recaptured in Afghanistan attacking U.S. troops there, with paperwork on him that said he was a Taliban in good standing.

He is just one of 74 former Guantanamo Bay detainees who the military says were active in, or were suspected of being active in, fighting against the United States or committing terrorist acts after being released.

…these detainees were captured on the battlefield, not in Burger King bxgrl.

  3. legion, isn’t that the way it is in El Al? I thought you were given an arrival time but there was no flight time.

I once exported some material to a customer in Israel. My company got a personal visit from a nice gentleman who wanted to know all about me.

But we’re a lot bigger than ISrael.

  4. stevieb,

everyone has an ulterior motive for everything. it’s what makes the world go round. Caveat Emptor.

    etson,
I agree. We simply need to duplicate the Israeli approach to air safety.
Until then, we’ll all have to continue arriving 4 hours early to our flights.

  5. Bush is retired in Texas and has had the good sense to keep quiet, unlike other previous presidents of late.

we are talking about real issues happening now.
We need to move away from Bush and towards a realistic accounting of current leadership and what they are doing.

This from someone who demands accountability? Gloss over the mess 8 years of Bush left and expect Obama to fix it all in under a year? I find that extremely funny.

From the very second Obama won the GOP has been yapping at his heels over everything and nothing. If Homeland Security is doing a crap job, don’t blame the guy who is trying to fix things. Blame the guy who set it up. As far as Gitmo detainees- sorry but what exactly does it accomplish to throw people into Gitmo and leave them there to rot- NOT KNOWING if they are even guilty or not. What are we? Iran? Under Bush we became venal, dehumanizing and worse- afraid of everything. On top of that our foreign policy became more than stupid.

  6. White flag.

I accept your surrender, BHO. Now go out there and plunk some money down on a brownstone.
