Excuse me for interupting the party in here and your collective quest for 900,000 comments but I just wanted to pass out a few thank you’s from the MyHome, Brooklyn post yesterday:
Blowfish – yes this arrangement would avoid a flip-tax.
pss11211 – thanks for the support. Do not hesitate to contact me at donald at myhomebrooklyn dot com if you or others you know are interested in the opportunities we are looking at or would just like to ask any questions.
mopar – thanks for the kind words. We are working hard to educate those that are interested and think there are some real opportunities to deliver this type of housing product in the not too distant future – ie next year.
wine lover – I truly beleive that our concept can become a reality. We are working with over 30 families that are very interested in the product we are offering. A number of hurdles need to be cleared to get them to the finish line but we are intent on getting them in the homes they desire. We really like what we do and are good at it as well. Thanks for the support.
For those of you that are skeptical, it would be helpful to know exactly why so we can address the issues in our marketing effort. If you have the desire please do not hesitate to email me at donald at myhomebrooklyn dot com with your concerns. Any and all input is welcome and appreciated.
Rob, on days like today when it is considered an official cold weather emergency, it is the cops’ job to get such people to a shelter whether or not they want to go to one.
A few years ago on a particularly cold January day, I walked by a man who I at first thought was trying to retrieve something from underneath a car. I then realized he had fallen and could not get up. As I approached him to see if I could help him, other people told me not to bother and that he had been laying there for about an hour. Myself and another man with common sense picked the old man up off the ground and set him on the steps of what is now that D II discount store on the corner of 5th and 9th. He was so frozen that he could not move his lips to speak or even wiggle his fingers. The man who was helping me started shouting for someone to call 911. The people in the store refused. Someone with a cellphone eventually did. The man and I proceeded to unwrap ourselves and put our scarves and gloves on the frozen old man as onlookers told us we were crazy. After the ambulance came and took the man away, I literally walked home crying my eyes out. I couldn’t help but wonder how people could be so cruel. If that man were their father/brother/husband or whatever, wouldn’t they want someone to help? Animals.
yeah i dont get denton’s point. if it’s not their job, it’s not their job. why dont you invite the sheeted homeless lady to YOUR house than?
and the reasons you say the cops “probably live in rockland country” is because unfortunately they cannot even afford to live anywhere IN nyc proper anymore unless they have 10 roommates! and who the hell is gonna wanna have a cop as one of their roommates? they are basically screwed.
“I love a man in uniform.”
With handcuffs, no less.

It’s a problem, cops are not properly trained to deal with mental illness or the homeless. Really, it’s terrible.
