  1. Why People Hate Certain Cyclists (including me):

I was cycling along at my usual slow pace on 6th Av and hear this scream “ON YOUR LEFT” as the spandexed speeder whizzes by; luckily I didn’t have time to react as who knows left from right in that millisecond (there was car traffic, too so it could’ve been dangerous)?

I caught up to him at the light and suggested he use a bell, as “on your left” doesn’t cut it at his speed. “Well in my world it does” he snarled as he sped away.

Right. But not in the courteous world most of us inhabit.

  2. my fav. dollar stores were on broadway in the hamilton heights section of harlem where i used to live. i think i did laundry (well sent it out.. fyi i do my own laundry now, but in the building i lived in in harlem the landry room was on lockdown from the old ladies who used it as their own pay per load service lol go them i guess, but other people werent allowed to do their own laundry ahhah), anyway i think i only did laundry like 3 times the total 5 months i lived in that apartment. because the rent was so cheap and dollar stores so cheap i just bought underwear, socks, and tshirts and just threw them out instead of washing them. it was nice to have a fresh pair (tho of course all irregular) every day. i guess not a very green thing to do or even financially responsible, but constant fresh dainties everyday made living in harlem slightly bareable.

    *rob*

  3. Heather, did you check on propertyshark or anywhere for any legal action on the building, lis pendens or that sort of thing???

What exactly did this guy say who came out of nowhere?

  4. We were inside at the time. What happened first was, the lock “broke” from the outside. We discovered this when husband tried to go to the store and couldn’t get OUT of the building. Called the super who fixed it, an hour later some crazy guy rings our doorbell, hands us new keys (thanks for replacing the medeco with a crappy credit card lock, btw!) and says we should now pay him rent and not the landlord.

What is most sad is, I was just thinking that we shouldn’t move because things were so nice here. Apparently this guy does have some legal claim, but how much is unclear… and frankly, if he wins? I really don’t want him as a landlord already.

  5. heather, if someone, even an owner, hypothetically locked you out of your own rental apartment without a court order, i’m pretty sure that would be illegal

  6. chicken, FINALLY! I’ve been good and haven’t heckled you about this, cannot wait to hear your news!!

MANY thanks to Snappy, for all your hard work on the party!!
