Once my partner and I were up in Harlem doing an architectural walking tour and we wanted southern sides. I knew there was a great place up there but couldn’t remember the name or where (Snappy just confirmed). So we ended up at Sylvia’s. Disgusting to say the least.
And I’ve had really good southern food, so I know the comparison.
Sylvia’s should be closed down by the Authentic Soul Food Police. Flat out nasty. They use canned collard greens and canned sweet potatoes. That is the ultimate travesty in genuine soul food cooking.
Best fish and chips I ever had was at Leo Burdock Fish & Chips in Dublin near Christ Church Cathedral. It was more expensive than the Chip Shop (considering you need to buy an airplane ticket to get there).
Cobble, you can probably ask the folks at the Chip Shop to make your fries well done. I’m sure they would oblige. I like mine on the crispier side too.
“Expert, do you like soul food? If yes, Amy Ruth’s up on 116th in Harlem has a kick ass catfish. YUM!”
YES!!!!!
You mentioned it before and I was gonna ask again because I sometimes get in the mood for good sides (collard greens, corn, etc.)
Sylvia’s sucks!
