Crescent Hill- when a vendor offends you and overcharges you, you have the right to boycott. And the assumption none of these people worked is a little over the top. Ever think some were retirees, housewives, students, or whatever? Why asssume the worst about them and the best about the Korean grocer?
THL, I can’t speak to wether or not they cause any damage…when i got mine I first of course asked the landlord for permission, which I got, but then the installer guy actually attached my dish to the building next to mine because that building is one floor higher! Ooops! But in 7 or so years, that building owner has never complained or demanded that it be removed.
“There’s always going to be something that another thinks of as worse than what you mentioned. So now instead of people saying “yes, that was terrible.” People look at your definitive comment and say, “You think that was the worst? What’s wrong with you? This was much worse!”.”
About the most sensible comment I’ve heard today.
NSR, Kens is right. If you think Time Warner is bad, try Cablevision. I’ve had both, and they combined to drive me to satellite.
But then again, I don’t think the fact that cable TV service sucks is news to too many people.
Michael Pirone, Jason Ladone,James Povinelli, Thomas Farino,Salvatore DeSimone and Harry J. Buonocore were all convicted on either second degree manslaughter or other related charges for the howard Beach incident in 1986, benson. what was that about those who write revisionist history?
Maybe you should look these things up before you talk.
Nicholas Minucci was convicted for the baseball bat attack on 3 young Black men in 2005.
Non- inflammatory? Benson- people with blind spots like yours made my married life hell just walking down the street with my husband. You blow off the deaths of people who simply made the mistake of walking into the wrong neighborhood as not as important as a boycott of Korean grocers? Oh right- I see it now. An overpriced produce vendor is worth so much more than a life. FTR- Crescent hill elaborated on the korean incident- he didn’t call the the worst racial incident in the city’s recent history. Dinkins bashing is fair game- what you said not only do I disagree with, I thought it was offensive, insensitive and erroneous. Now I’m done and you can revise all you want.
No, Crescent Hill, you are making a not so subtle jab at a bunch of black people who boycotted everyday, presumably because they didn’t work, and were therefore, presumably, unfairly sucking at the public teat. Therefore, in contrast to the hard working grocer, their reasons for boycotting are rendered null and void.
Sorry, saw through that one.
The boycott was much more complicated than that, and no one smelled like roses. I’m not defending some of what happened, but it didn’t happen in a vacuum, and there is plenty of blame to go around to cover just about everyone, from the mayor’s office on down to the street. However, a fair discussion of the events does not begin and end by pointing the blame on Dinkins, or an activist, whether he has a criminal record or not.
THL…I have Comcast in PA and in MA. We don’t have the full service and the thing I hate about them is that without it there’s no channel guide, not even a non-interactive one.
Not worth paying for the full digital upgrade given how often we use it there.
Snappy- I always regret having not switched over to DTV before we had the roof redone. They say it’s installation won’t cause any leaks/damage but I’m skeptical.

THL…I had the Direct TV dish installed on the roog in Philly…so far it’s OK but given the moron who installed it I wonder.
