Oh please, everyone is now harping on about the “lack of respect for for working men and women” when the argument has actually been around the rights and wrongs of unions. Such goal-post moving and not-so-subtle insult might work on a politcal TV debate but here – no.
You’re right DIBS was FULL of respect for the Stella D’oro workers. Now I’m being accused of being a beleeding heart liberal… I feel like Bush is still prez…
arkady- the discussion started over salary levels for head stagehand and master carpenter at Carnegie Hall and it was hardly complimentary. Only a bit later did it get to doing a job well.
Joe, no one hates the working man/woman here. We are just stating that today’s unions mostly don’t work as intended to. Stop being a hard head will ya :o).
Most of my union friends and family members HATE unions themselves because they work hard and know they are keeping their jobs because of unions. Here is a perfect example. My mom’s hospital is union and has horrible conditions. Sloane Kettering is non union hospital and is serviced and is great (from personal experience). They had pretty bad conditions and employees got together (nurses and doctors mostly) and complained to management and go their way. They didn’t have a union, they just joined together and complained for common good of the workplace. It worked effectively without the union need. Same theory as a union of getting together effectively without union dues and union policies of seniority and such.

In fact, I support many of them financially.

I thought Sad sad little man supported working MEN!
Has he switched union labor?
Maybe the poser supports working Women?
“Every single one of them is totally worth his bloated salary and bonuses.”
If the shareholders agree – yes. Problem is that alot of shareholders are asleep at the switch.

What would Matt Damon do…
$500,000 for a master carpenter?
lol
What would Jesus do?
Joe – see Dave’s old post about his new brownstone stoop, how much he paid for it, and the local workers that were employed to do it.
“natural pricing structure “…there’s a new one. I am always suspect then someone argues what is ‘natural’…no matter what the subject.
