  1. By the way folks: today I called up my colleague in Milan and discussed the whole meatballs/polpette issue. I’ll talk about it in tomorrow’s OT.

    As a hint: it’s kind of like that classic Japanese movie Rashomon, where three principals in a murder give their version of what happened.

    Yes, it was definitely legal. It was also disingenuous, sneaky and it reeks of a back-room deal, which is exactly what is was. Covert subversion of the democratic process. It was, to paraphrase the supporters of Andrew Jackson, a “corrupt bargain.”
