My brother was on Tyra’s “America’s Next Top Model.” If you saw the episode from late last year where the models went to a professional fashion shoot, and they were photographed by a real fashion photographer (a black guy with dreadlocks), that’s my brother.
That’s also the only episode of that show I’ve ever watched!
I agree with alot of what you say, and feel like I have the same temperament, though it doesn’t come across on this blog (it seems).
There is no doubt that there is a fine line between good-natured parody and condescension. One doesn’t want a PC regime (in either direction). Parody is a good thing.
I may be wrong, but I think that we are WAY over the line in this thread. Just note one thing: at the time of this Dyker Heights thread, PropJoe was already a well-known commodity, and he was practically persona non grata. As opposed to most threads back in that time (and I was around alot back then) note that PropJoe is given almost a hero’s welcome in this one. You are right – we can’t guess at PropJoe’s political afiliation (in fact, even his race and ethnicity were in question) but we can be certain of the leanings of the large majority of folks who were applauding him.
tomorrow’s tyra is entitled Gross People. they showed one chick in the commercial who likes to eat her boogers cuz ‘they taste like ham and baloney’. :-/ she then proceeds to pull one out of her nose and stick it in her mouth as the audience hoots and hollers and screams ewwww!!! i like how tyra scrapes the bottom of the barrel of attention whores hahha. and you people really dont know what # 1 and # 2 are!?!?
snappy, the doc didnt say i was contageous. i have to go back to work tomorrow, i dont have any sick days left this year. i cant afford another day off with no pay. plus i dont want to be the next one laid off, for taking too many sick days!! granted they SENT me home yesterday cuz i was coughing so much, but at least it’s not contageous, id assume, he never said one way or the other, but if it’s a chest infection it probably isnt spreadable. ill carry around lysol with me.
on a lighter note while i was waiting for my prescriptions to be filled i decided to treat myself to lunch. ugh, of all the places to eat in chelsea i chose to go to pizza hut because their pasta in a bread bowl ad in the window looked good. ugh. it was SO bad. i wound up not even wanting to eat the bowl (which is made of bread). i chose the three cheese macaroni and cheese, but i only tasted one cheese!
