ha! eny, tht’s great. do you know what season? your description, tho vague, sounds slightly familiar, but i recall a photographer on that show who was on more than once. they usually have a different photographer for each shoot and occassionally one will be another season or so.. was he mean to models? i like the ones who are mean to the models hahah
CGar, really, I’ll pass on the gathering. The feel-good of the gathering just deflated too much over last few days that I find hanging out with my son to be more entertaining.
By the way, along the lines of what we’ve been talking about, I’d recommend 2 other books to you:
1) “Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community” by Robert Putnam (a great book).
2) “The Bell Curve” by Charles Murray. This was a controversial book, because of some statements he made in it. However, what eas overlooked was his analysis of “The Great Sort” that you talk about.
I’m leaving the last word to you regarding that thread, benson.
Re: temperament, I think that is a hard thing to manage in exchanges on a blog, or in email for that matter. There’s a lot of nonverbal signaling that goes on face to face that keeps things civil that gets lost in these anonymous places. Sometimes I watch exchanges here go ballistic (I am not specifically referring to you and bx, it has happened with lots of folks) and I can’t quite figure out what triggered the escalation (I’ve gone a little nuts here too, sometimes, and I sometimes can’t figure out why afterwards). It’s often hard to dial it back afterwards.
P.S. If we keep this up, we’ll be sharing the peace prize next year.

Slopefarm;
I’d be happy to share the prize with you!

Ahmen.
Very hard to read an email.
(Cobble was 500)
ENY, does your brother post here on the Forum ocassionally???
No. And if I were to ask him about Brownstoner, he’d look at me with the “What in the hell are you talking about?” look.
THL, he is a spectacular photographer if I say so myself. I’m sure he’d appreciate your thoughts as well.
“Say what you will, I prefer to speak my mind, and let the chips fall where they may.”
what you do isn’t speaking, it’s proselytizing.

bxgrl, if you’re lurking, I posted a possible answer to your white farmhouse question on MM’s thread
