  1. “So that whole “Sex and the City” Fleet Week episode was trumped up?”

Hell no! I worked in the Seaport/financial area for years. It was mighty nice to see those boys walking about.

  2. Haha WTF ROB??

You mean that playground on the corner of Spring and Mulberry where the old chinese dudes hang out all day?

That’s weird. Cops should be doing something about the junkies sleeping on the streets.

  3. rob, happened to my friend who was walking through Cnetral Park and decided it’d be a good idea to run through the sprinkler (he’d just finished jogging). Immediately he was told to leave. The cop indicated that it was for the safety of the children that adults without children in tow could not be in the playground area.

Makes a lot of sense when you think about it. At the time when you’re being eyed as a potential predator it probably doesn’t feel so good though.

  4. It is actually against playground rules in NYC to be in a playground without a child. It’s kinda their anti-pedophile thing.

Classic example of The “illusion” of security.

  5. As a straight Navy veteran I can tell you I was very disappointed with the enlisted Navy uniforms and quite jealous of the Navy officers and of the Marines. My uniforms consisted of:

    – Dress Whites – Bell bottomy white pants, white t-shirt, white long-sleeved shirt thing with the flap on the back, black neckerchief, dixie cap

    – Dress Blues – kind of like dress whites but deep navy blue

    – dungarees – blue bell bottom pants, blue shirt, white dixie cap

…all of which are (1) ridiculously gay and (2) not exactly chick magnets. Woe was me.
