Snappy, you’re so right about the GWB bashing comment.
Kens, most places you’ll find have much higher taxes than the NYC area where the ppty taxes are unusually low but, high sales tax. It’s a good trade off because tourists help pay the taxes through the commercial/retail industry.
Snappy, leather is preferred if you have wife and young child who spills stuff on sofa all the time. Same reason I got leather seats in the car. If not for that, I prefer cloth – more color, pattern, etc selection and it looks better.
As weird as it sounds, after spending the 2nd long weekend in RI area, that’s the only other place I would settle in outside of NYC. I absolutely love the Newport and Warwick area. I don’t care for hot weather much so the colder winters wouldn’t bother me too much as long as I don’t have to come out in 6 in the morning to shovel snow and just pay someone to do it, I am all for it.
I actually looked at properties there and it’s pretty reasonable (compared to NYC) BUT why are property taxes so high in RI? Freaking tiny two bedroom cottage of the beaten path is 3,300 bucks a year in real estate taxes! what gives?

Thanks CG 🙂 You are quite cool yourself!

Why thank you, Benson! And now I’m afraid I must duck out of this argument before I get hit with a flying shoe! LOL J/K
🙂
Kens;
One of the unique aspects of NYC is low property taxes, thanks to the large base of commercial business here (that kicks in its share).
you are a very cool chick snappy. 🙂
Snappy;
