  1. wow- where did that textbook come from, rob? The backwoods of Texas? I think textbooks like that are probably targeted for religious schools and are illegal in public schools. If not, call the ACLU. If anyone knows, they would.

  2. For a deconstruction of American history textbooks, read James Loewen’s “Lies My Teacher Taught Me” which is about why in the US textbooks all have a weird nationalist pride to them, and why they’re all so freakin’ thick.

There is some kind of Texas-based religious stranglehold on the textbook industry, partial at least, that for a long time kept this type of thing going.

  3. Rob – The hyphen is left from an earlier layout where the word was on 2 lines. The use of the plural for “One results…” is either your typo or their ignorance.
Why do you get those books? They should be fodder for Fahrenheit 451.

  4. Last night’s Law & Order on Channel 38 was about a religious right bible thumping minister and his whole family falling apart because one of the sons was having an affair with a male prostitute.
None of them were particularly attractive either. 🙁
