Re rock camp, it was truly fabulous, even if the parents had to listen to their precious jewels do an extremely uneven showcase on Saturday evening by the 10 bands the kids (ages 8-15) formed. It has been a long time since I was in a place like Coco 66, where said showcase took place. To my surprise, my daughter was not the only Chinese kid there–they were probably 20 percent of the total (all with Chinese parents except 2 adoptees) and they rocked. A credit to their race for sure!

Come to think of it, Coco 66 might be a good PLUSA locale–on Greenpoint Ave. half a block from the river, easy parking.

oh good lord! so my sister turns 18 next week and i just got this message from her mentor about a surprise party she wants to throw her. lol. does anyone here have black tapered candles? i dont even KNOW what means! anyway, this party sounds. um. interesting hahahah (i think this is an example of someone in a manic state) fyi: that is only 1/4 of the email! hahahah she’s nice though.

I have lots to tell you about the party…don’t know where to start. Well first of all, there’s a dress code. We all must dress in black. And i even bought you a funny wig/beard thing due to her manson craziness…i want to disguise you so she’d be extra surprised….i’ll just tell her i invited blake who grew a beard. Don’t worry, you don’t have to wear it the whole time…just when she comes thru the door. I bought a black wig for myself, white make up, fake blood and plan on doing some weird eye goth thing to my face. Wait till you see it. i’m so psyched about that. So do you have all black clothing for yourself? We could even have a face painting party like at little kid parties, but bloodier and vampier. I got lots of props, toys, pinata, games etc. The pinata is a black cat that looks like her cat. Glow in the dark vampire teeth for us. black nail polish, black lipstick for you and matthew which i know he being the party pooper that he is will never go along with it. I got a skull, spiders, candles, table decor, spider web table cloth, giant wall sized grave yard sticker thing, black balloons, cauldron for potato salad, wormy candy, spider webs, eye ball candles, pin the bloody knife on the skull game which i invented, canned corn presents for her since she loves it—-maybe i’ll put that in pinata…haha
Well….lots lots more. i know i’ve gone too far but she’s never had a birthday party let alone a surprise one so i want to make it special. kinda’ make up for all the lost years.

The only thing i couldn’t find on line was regular black tapered candles for table top and black or white birthday candles for cake. i guess white little candles for cake is better since the cake will be black. Have you seen any of those around your neck of the woods. Also do you have small or tiny white xmas lights….the kind that don’t blink? As for cake, i’d love to make it, but don’t know 1. If i’d have enough time and 2. If i could do a good job since my baking skills are lacking. I was thinking of having a bakery do it since her favorite inside cake part is chocolate and white chocolate filling….if they could put macadamian nuts in it..even better. i gotta check the price though since i’ve so far spent about 300. so far not including the camera i plan on getting for her. shshshshhhh don’t tell anyone of money, my boy will kill me. ummmm what else…oh you should bring one of your chuckie dolls. i’m also gonna make my dogs wear black ribbon bows including my cats. Also the party can go till late and maybe if we get bored we can watch a horror flick. oh crap, something in the wiring is messed up with my dvd player…do you know how to configure that stuff? or maybe remotely connecting my laptop to my tv so it could play dvd’s. My friend did it once but i don’t know how the hell he did it. What movies do you have? Freddy kruger first one? The exorcist first one? yikes that one is scary…never seen the uncut version with her going down the stairs with arched back like a creature…have you ever seen that one? i don’t think that dina has ever seen the exorcist.

ok well, tell me what you think so far and if you want i’ll send you a list of stuff i’ll need help with if you crash here. oh and also, i’ll find her list of presents and send them to you.
So glad i found you thru fb, so you could be in her life and at this party. My 18th party was the best ever and the theme was batman. Everything in black bats, super heroes and cobwebs. I was so much like dina in taste…i have to keep reminding myself of that…
