  1. That orange tabby in Arkady’s link looks just like the cat I had when I was a little kid.

I went to a sleep-away camp run by the American Legion (basically, for poor kids) and my cabin adopted a wild orange tabby that we found. When it came time to go home, we wanted to find a home for it. All the other kids in the cabin called their homes first, as I never expected my parents to say yes, as they didn’t like animals. No dice. Given our desperation, I called my mom last, and asked her. To my huge delight, she said “Yes”, thinking that the camp would never allow me to bring a kitten on the bus home. She was shocked when I came running up the stairs, beaming, with my orange tabby kitten, which I named “Tiger” (how imaginative!).

Alas, after about a month of having a wild kitten going about the destruction of our house, my parents told me that Tiger had to go. It was the worst thing they ever did to me- I was hearbroken. I donated it the Animal Nursery in Coney Island, and used to go visit him every week, until he finally found a new home.

  2. “His followers also appear to label everyone a nazi by the way.”

There seems to be a lot of that going around on the right these days. Check out Limbaugh on logos.

LaRouche is in fact a strange bird and it is probably possible to claim him for either wing. My take is that if you look at a lot of what he has actually said and what his followers have actually advocated over the years, he betrays a lot of fascist and anti-semitic tendencies and an over-the-top cold warrior stance. To me he sounds more Nazi than Trotsky. I think his extremes are more those of the extreme right than extreme left. But you can probably find a quote from him to place him anywhere on the spectrum you like. But I will leave it at that.

I never said LaRouche was a republican. I never mentioned the NYT in any exchange with you. Not sure why you are trying to escalate this or what point you are trying to prove by attributing those things to me.

“Perhaps that’s the reason for my retorts, I get a kick out of needling people who think they know it all, then resort to unsupported assertions and name calling.” — That really says it all. How mature. See ya.

  3. Just like Gem said, there are some “know” blocks and corners. If you come look it’s quite apparent which are o.k. and which aren’t. The housing stock is pretty fantastic though (most needing some work since it was a bit neglected for a time). My block is amazing. Great neighbors, very involved block association, everyone (except one) maintains their homes really well. I think it’s a matter of seeing for yourself.
