  1. rob, pot pies for lunch is a splendid idea. workplace lunches are great for showing off how above politics/cool/whatever you are. there’s this dude who works in my building, he drinks those kombucha drinks at lunch every day, we swap stories about beverages etc.

being a sociable person in the lunchroom/breakroom is like being nice to secretaries and custodians, or to waitstaff when you’re on a date: it shows your true character and pays off.

  2. bxgrl, baby boomers were born after the major wars(1946-1964). Are you confusing them with the greatest generation? I’ve been decaying for years, the big C at 24. I’m one year removed from baby boomers and see that social security/medicare in it’s current form is not sustainable.

  3. 6years- i agree. We do need dissenting voices but we need dissenting voices who will force the rest to come together and work for the greater good. I don’t see that happening in this country although I voted for Obama because he is our best hope to rethink how we deal with one another. And I think a lot of others agreed.

I think gerrymandering sucks too. But face it- unless more people get involved, and vote everything this country is, everything millions have fought and died for will be moot. We’ll go out, not with a bang but a whimper.

  4. Bxgrl, the Bush Administration may have mastered it, but it started with Nixon – have you read Nixonland, by Rick Perlstein? I recommend it to anyone – it’s absolutely outrageous.

  5. DeLepp- not for nothing but babyboomers paid for years into the system. It is not an entitlement. Baby boomers paid vast amounts of taxes and defended this country through several major wars so I am hard pressed to listen to those born later about how baby boomers will ruin the country. And one universal truth- if you’re lucky, you live to a ripe old age. Maybe you’ll decay but most of the baby boomers I know are aging well, gracefully and productively. Hope your generation can say the same come your turn.

  6. G10: gerrymandering = MA Gov. Elbridge Gerry + a salamander-shaped district to ensure the election of a certain type of candidate:

but my modern favorites are Illinois Congressional District 4:

    and CA District 23:
