Coupla comments by some African American acquaintances of mine off a lit list, a town hall meeting in Baltimore (and I know for a fact they both have excellent health care plans):

“xxx and I went to a health care rally this evening in conservative territory (outnumbered at least 5 to1)–and it was ugly. We arrived at 5:15 for the outiside rally at which time we wrer told that the 500 seats for the 7:pM town hall meeting were already taken,

The other side was real clear that if people couldn’t pay for their own health insurance then tough luck–as they passed by in their mercedes. One person suggested that medcare be abolished, others insisted that medicare was socialism.

In addtion to signs of Obama with big red lips, or signs with Obama with a Hitler mustache, there was one that said Obama go home. (Still can’t convince some people that Hawaii is part of the US and he is a citizen.) At least those under 25 saw racism first hand face to face. I watched their stunned faces.

There were also “no health care for illegal aliens ” signs as well as “don’t take granny off of the machines” signs. Clearly these people have been listening to Rush Limbaugh.

The president and those who want health care reform had bettercome up with a clear plan, reach an agreement ,and speak with one voice or they are not going to have success here.

Another at the same rally:

“It was definitely an eye-opening experience to witness firsthand the kind of ugly personal attacks being launched against Barack Obama. Clearly, most detractors attended the rally to air their racist frustrations. ”

The point is disparity between the media, which independent studies have proven to be well slanted to the left (approx. 80% of media professionals identify themselves as dems.), and the objectivity they should be aspiring to.
Citizens speaking out in townhalls or public meetings are touted as grassroots activists by ABC or CBS news if they are speaking out about evil Republicans, while conservatives sounding off at congressional townhalls are termed “brownshirts” and “operatives”.

Basically Obama’s healthcare plan is this:

Decrease costs by paying doctors and hospitals 20% less over the next ten years. Throw another 47 million “uninsured” onto the healthcare system which is already overburdened. Then expect the doctors to give you better quality healthcare.
All the while failing to address the issue of tort reform or malpractice insurance industry abuse or medical insurance industry lobbying.
