  1. ENY, I have looked at twitter. I have friends who use it. My statement about it being worse than hating cats was a joke! As in ha ha! I’m just not interested in it – regardless of who posts what on it, be they from Princeton or the projects. The same way some B’Stoner’s aren’t interested in taking part in the OT. When it all boils down to it, it’s all silliness. We simply choose which silliness we want to partake in.

  2. “It somehow feels different than the OT because we are interacting with each other and not just posting random updates to whomever decides to read it.”

Snappy, that doesn’t make sense. As on Twitter ANYONE can read your Brownstoner posts, even if you are addressing them to one another.

Like Twitter, the OT (and Brownstoner itself) functions as (in effect) as an open e-mail. That’s the idea. Instant exchange of information. If the “Tweeter” happens to be, let’s say, a respected Princeton legal professor who happens to share some sage legal advice from time to time via Twitter, why wouldn’t you be interested in that?

I can see that many of the folks here wouldn’t understand why anyone would use Twitter – you guys are too busy posting here to explore Twitter, and that makes sense.

What doesn’t make sense is to decide Twitter is a “stupid idea” and “ridiculous” and “worse than disliking cats” likely because you simply don’t understand how it works or why anyone would use it. There’s a word for that.

OK, since I’m not a Twitter rep, I’ll just drop it. Just my two cents.

Snappy, that’s always how I’ve viewed the difference between the OT and Twitter.

Have to confess though that, after nearly 2 years of ignoring various invites, I was finally dragged kicking and screaming onto Facebook (much like I stopped lurking on Brownstoner!). My “wall” is plain vanilla and boring, but to the site’s credit, what a great way to get in touch with people I’ve lost touch with over the years!

  4. DH, don’t feel bad, she prolly didn’t spend much money at all. She hinted that they picked it up or about to at a price of a 2 new constructed condos so I highly doubt they paid more than 500K each (maybe a bit more considering 3 apartments are at market rental rates but I doubt it).

So are you taking the NHS class with me next month? I have to call tomorrow to request an application for enrollment. I am more and more leaning on buying a property upstate (2 family) and rehab it as long as foundation, roof, electric and plumbing are in tact and use it as a weekend getaway.
