  1. Gotcha Gem

Have you heard Cage the Elephant? Apparently they are fairly well known but i haven’t heard of them until recently. Really cool, like funky/punky southern sounding rock.

  2. g10, we eat anything that couldn’t get away. when you have that many people and not a ton of food readily available, you eat what you can get your hands on.

used to catch & roast dragon flies. taste like roasted peanuts

  3. Ha! I never looked that up before m4l. And I found out this fun fact: sometimes in southern China, dog meat shows up on the menu as the wonderfully euphemistic 三六香肉–“Three Six Fragrant Meat”. Three plus Six is Nine, and “nine” (gau) sounds like “dog” in Cantonese.

When I was in the dog meat restaurant near Toisan, the owners had no such poetic bent. There was a huge cloth banner hung in the place that said 狗肉

  4. Kens…did I tell you what my niece said about the Dora doll? When it arrived in the mail, my mom tells her to open the Dora and smell her. My niece does it.
Niece: “mmmmm. She smells good gramma. What is that?”
Mom: “Dora smells like cotton candy.”
    Niece: “Like what?”
    Mom: “Cotton candy”
Niece, voice trailing off as she runs to the back of the house to show my dad: “Papa! Papa! My Dora smells like HOCKING CANDY!”

    Hahaha!

  5. gemini…..they eat anything. Typically because, if prepared right, it tastes good.

A Chinese friend once told me if I want a great experience to follow Chinese around at a zoo and listen to them talk about eating everything.
