  1. rob, I’ve refinished some furniture and always wiped off the excess stain with a rag after applying each coat (one of the only things I learned in Wood Shop). Try wiping off the excess now, and it may look fine. If not, re-stain it.

  2. Regarding today’s mnemonics discussion: st marks has been left out. Here’s mine:
Garfield cuddled (carroll) the president’s uvula (union) briefly (berkeley), licked (lincoln) st john swiftly (sterling) and prodded (park) and pushed (prospect) st marks bulging (bergen) derrier (dean)

  3. rob- try Pearle- like I said, they do a careful thorough exam. He told me my previous pair o glasses weren’t powerful enough so the left eye did all the work and my eyesight was not corrected by the glasses to be balanced. So I was getting headaches and eyestrain. I got one pair of reading glasses and one pair of progressives since the right eye needs correction for both near and far. (yes- I’m an eye freak!!! Waaahhhh!!!)

  4. ah thanks dave. i didnt know you HAD to rub the excess off. ugh but i think it turned into like a (dare i say) lubey type of consistency on the table. hopefully i can fix this mess.

  5. rob, Same thing happened to me when I first needed glasses, except one eye needed no prescription at all. My eye doctor suggested I get a monocle, but I didn’t want to look like Colonel Klink.

  6. i have a question about wood staining. this weekend i sanded and stained a tree and a wooden table. the branch is fine but the table, which i did on sunday is still wet. do you have to rub excess stain off? i didnt want to rub it because i wanted it to remain dark like it is now. is it too late to rub it? it’s still wet and now i think there is a layer of dust in the stain. if i rub it with a towel will it ruin it? ugh. it was such a nice table too. 🙁
