I once briefly had the MD title as well, but it was clearly ‘title inflation’ in my case. Just what the smallish fund I used to work for called all the senior analysts.
Yep, my mum was particular proud when I told her I had been promoted to “Vice President” – she told all her friends that if the President of the company died then I would have to take over.
And, we had over 200 MDs. It isn’t as grand as it really sounds, just gets you better comp and benefits
I used to refer to my former employers as “The Evil Empire” – it’s the big Swiss one that isn’t an anagram of “SUB”
