Oh, and how could I forget backup 2B-SS Tim Flannery? Major FAIL on my part, as he was a real San Diego favorite. Dick Williams told him he was the worst player he’d ever seen in the major leagues, but he played his heart out, Pete Rose-style. Flannery was also a surfer and professional musician – perfect for San Diego.
HAAAAAAAAAAAA! I just read this on city-data board. i think nyc “cyclists” should ALL MOVE TO DETROIT TOO!!!!
——————————————————————————–
“While bike enthusiasts in most urban areas continue to have to fight for their place on the streets, Detroit has the potential to become a new bicycle utopia. It’s a town just waiting to be taken. With well less than half its peak population, and free of anything resembling a hill, the city and its miles and miles of streets lie open and empty, beckoning. And lately, whether it’s because of the economy or the price of gas or just because it’s a nice thing to do, there are a lot more bikers out riding.”

GO!!!! housing is CHEAP! GO NOW YOUNG (AND OLD) CYCLIST!
ENY — you’re like the pot-bellied trailer-dweller re-living his high school football career for his scrawny dog. I mean look at you, reminding an anonymous blog how many times the yankees won in the 19-somethings. I’ll bet you had hair then, too. clean yourself up and get a hold of your life!
ENY, I can’t remember all the bench players for 1998 (except John Vander Wal) but 1984 looked something like this and includes a few more names Yankees fans love/hate:
OF: Bobby Brown, Champ Summers
INF: Mario Ramirez, Luis Salazar, Kurt Bevacqua
C: Bruce Bochy
SP: Eric Show, Mark Thurmond, Tim Lollar, Ed Whitson, Dave Dravecky
Bullpen: Andy Hawkins, Luis DeLeon, Greg Booker, Craig Lefferts, Goose Gossage
The ’84 Padres starting rotation included three members of the John Birch Society (Dravecky, Thurmond, and Show, who died of a drug overdose), and 2B Wiggins died of AIDS.
They all brought tremendous joy to the city of San Diego (and to seven-year-old me).
“ENY…it was randi who said that, NOT JOE. None of us are at the level randi is, “lowest of the low.”
Yeah, I know that Dave. Joe hated on the Yanks, and you supported that. Randolph hated on the Yanks too. So, I concluded that you are in agreement with Randolph AND Joe (at least on the Yanks). And, agreeing with these two “personalities” on ANYTHING is pretty scary when you really think about it.
FYI, that was impressive, six (’98 and ’84 Padres lineups). I’d forgotten you guys took Puff away from us. Watching guys like Toby Harrah play third in the Nettles’ wake nearly KILLED me!
“you people and your basketball talk scared off all the ladies!”
Hey look man – I don’t hate on RHONJ!! Let me get my baseball talk on!

Even if you don’t like the Yanks – you have to admire how George turned the team around from a POS team worth nothing into a billion dollar franchise.
People tend to forget baseball is a BUSINESS – championships or not in the last 10 years, the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball.
