I’m guessing that Aussies living in relatively new cities where they were all taking showers in contrast to poor old brits stuck in our ancient cities still taking baths or washing at the sink. When I grew up (and I only turned 40 this year) a shower was a novelty. Usually I washed at the sink and often just washed my face and “underneath the arches”. Until the age of 7 we had an outside privy, and one sink for both kitchen purposes and washing purposes. When my brother and i were small enough, we still took baths in thast sink together.
“London seems to shut down a bit early — but isn’t that true in most places outside of NYC!! [hold your fire, I know there are other places where they stay open late!]”
True, but given the extreme expense and sacrifice of space that London requires I think one should receive some convenience in return.
etson, ditto, chicken etc–any thoughts on how the Ashes is going to play out this year? I always root for you guys, as does my Sydney by way of Johannesburg father in law who taught me the love of the game. We hate the crappy sportsmanship and general muscle-headedness of the Australian side.
“THL, I found out why Caroline was crying about never forgiving Danielle for something in the last reunion show for RHONJ. Is that old news already?”
Oh please do tell, I’m out of it over here!
Welcome back chicken [will you show us the flying pecs?!! ; )]
wasder, glad you had a [mostly] good trip, and yes, London seems to shut down a bit early — but isn’t that true in most places outside of NYC!! [hold your fire, I know there are other places where they stay open late!]
etson, perhaps thats the reason I hate rugby so much. That and the cold-water showers my Scottish instructor forced us to take after the game.
“I never had the unpleasant experience of sucking at them when I was young”
Oh dear, just re-read. BRG would have been all over that one.
Afraid I am mostly converted to US sports wasder, probably because I never had the unpleasant experience of sucking at them when I was young.

“wandering around sunburned and drunk in santa hats, pissing everywhere”
Brits do the same everywhere its sunny. I try to be the only limey vacationing at wherever I go due to that fact.
bxgrl,
soapdodger = dirty, lack of personal hygiene. Literally ‘one that avoids soap’.
Never knew the convicts called us that.
