  1. Hey kens, i agree with you about making fun of students who are not native born English speakers, as I’m sure their English is much better then my (insert other language here)

I didn’t really get the impression that’s what were were making fun of when reading sixyear’s essay examples. they just sounded like the essays of kids who didn’t know the material, and were trying to creatively fill up the page.

sure, immigrant students may have trouble with sentence structure or proper grammar (as rules in English apparently don’t make much sense) – but you can tell if they know the material. I didn’t get that impression from sixyear’s essays

Sixyears – how are US History essays evaluated? is it purely content or is spelling, grammar et all taken into account as well?

  2. hmmm…. DH- so how do you feel about father knows best and leave it to beaver? 😉

on another note, I hope benson comes tonight. Hopefully his fight with MM won’t stop him although he threatened to stop posting.

To many, talk of the recession might just mean a bunch of numbers, percentages or falling stock prices, but in the neighborhoods of New York City, its effects are very real. NY1’s Rebecca Spitz filed the following report on how the recession is hitting home in Harlem.

Yeah Harlem Dumbasses! The next Hipster haven!

The What (No I’m not coming)

Someday this war is gonna end…

  4. Can I come into defense of these students…I graduated the same school that sixyears teaches in and when I did (before he started working there) it was full of immigrant students. I was only in America for 3 years when I started high school so cut these people some slack. I took the regents and even though I don’t remember what I wrote, it is a good possibility that it would be along those lines. I was always getting perfect scores in math though, including AP exams and regents.
