  1. I agree with DIBS. The original Steven Starr one in Philly is by far the best. I hated the NYC one. Menus vary because Starr partnered with the executive chef of Spice Market to open the NYC one and the food in my opinion doesn’t compare.

Plus I had really really bad food poisoning after eating at Buddakan NYC and my stomach can digest nails!

  2. The Buddakan in Philly was the first one and is very good..lobster fried rice and a few other dishes. I haven’t been there in about 4 years though. Its become more of a scene than great food i think

  3. BRG: Ah well, thought I’d ask. I did go to some place with my very first Arabic class a long time ago, but forgot where it was and I wasn’t a veteran sheesha smoker at the time. 4th and 91st is probably a lot better and more affordable than the White Man’s Orientalist Fantasy places on the LES.

  4. “BRG, where in Bay Ridge would you recommend for a good sheesha/argeela/hookah?”

6yrs..I truly don’t know, as I don’t smoke it. There are a few on 5th Ave. I’ve been to the on 4th ave and 91st street. Okay, nothing impressive, but a good friend of ours hangs out there and I’m always up for a good game of backgammon.

  5. The man and I have been nursing some pretty serious hangovers today. Made us feel really old. Then I went out and picked flowers from the garden. We have some amazing bright yellow bearded irises and our lilac bush is popping. My whole house smells of lilacs now. The cats keep sniffing at the air.

Biff, re: the RHNJ- that’s exactly the reason why I like those chickies.
