PMFA notices a Kumon Learning Center is coming to Smith Street; not long ago we told you about another Kumon Center coming to the storefront on Vanderbilt and Park. Also in the neighborhood, the big white storefront, soon to be Vinzee’s Magic Fountain, now has signage. And Carroll Gardens Patch takes a look inside the new Stinky Brooklyn.
Williamsburg
Specialty wine shop Vine Wine, which recently closed in Long Island City, is reopening at 616 Lorimer Street. It’ll specialize in old-world and natural wines, and team up with Brooklyn Kitchen and the Meat Hook for classes, talks, and tastings. It had been previously reported that Rose Live Music and the restaurant in the bar’s basement, Vutera, were shuttering. But Zagat reports that Vutera is still open two nights a week while the owners work on a new concept for the upstairs bar. And over in Greenpoint, Brooklyn Paper checks out “newish space” Moves, an experimental indie theater.
Park Slope
FIPS had some surprising news that PS Bklyn may for sale already. But Here’s Park Slope did some investigating and it’s not true! And although Mama Rosa was short lived, Zagat tells us that Falafilo has opened up next door and is serving falafel, shawarma, and kebab sandwiches.
Crown Heights
Nostrand Park fills us in that new West Indian restaurant Island Thyme opened on Monday. A Brooklynian commenter spotted a NoBar awning going up next to Sakura Tokyo, on Nostrand between Pacific and Atlantic. The bar, which is going to have a rooftop Biergarten should be open early April.
It blended in, 11217. Light was in my eyes, that’s why I never noticed:).
Hog Mountain has been closed for months. That store was terrible. Nice idea, awful selection of merchandise.
I noticed Hog Mountain was closed this weekend too.
Now I have a Stinky neighbor.
NoBAr- whoo-hoo! We’ve seen a real uptick in new businesses in the area- it’s great!
Lorimer area definitely needs more wine shops. Not sure if anything else has opened up recently, but I can only recall that really shitty one on the corner of Metro and Union and the little one on Richardson.
Shame that spot will never get a liquor license – it would make a nice little bar.
Since the PSBklyn story wasn’t true, why do you feel the need to continue to broadcast it?
The owners came out and said the listing was made up. That should be the end of the story, no?
biergarten in crown heights is interesting. will definitely check it out
