Williamsburg/Greenpoint
Did you know this Monday was Meatball Day? You can read the lengthy text of the proclamation over at McBrooklyn, if you are so inclined. (Photo is also courtesy of McBrooklyn.) Meatball Day was held for the grand opening of Williamsburg’s Meatball Shop, which expanded from the Lower East Side. Check out the booze menu and see some interior shots over at Grub Street. Otherwise in North Brooklyn, the owner of Williamsburg’s Egg is expanding to 109A North 3rd, says Eater. They say: “Expect a focus on dinner service this time, along with a stronger emphasis on vegetables.” New York Shitty notices Tres Toros Tacos coming to 254 Driggs and got the low-down at the coffee place coming to 1011 Manhattan Avenue. Eater also notes a new bourbon and grilled cheese bar is opening soon on Grand Street near Lorimer.

Park Slope
From Here’s Park Slope: a new clothing store, called Rivet, is coming to 103 7th Avenue. An all natural grocery and vitamin shop is coming to 139 5th Avenue, at Saint Johns Place. The Fifth Line is open for biz at 145 Sterling Place, it is a studio for “Gyrotonic, Pilates, Yoga, and the Alexander Technique.” And finally, someone is not too happy that Five Guys is moving in on Flatbush Avenue!

Ditmas Park Blog looks into why Catskill Bagels was temporarily closed: the joint racked up quite a few DOH points during an inspection, despite the owner claiming there were plumbing problems. The business is now back open. 5 Burro Cafe, on the Colubmia Street Waterfront, has permanently shuttered after being closed by the DOH. It opened up last summer. Steeplechase Coffeeshop is now open and serving Twinkies, among other things, on Fort Hamilton Parkway, according to the Windsor Terrace Blog.
