Brooklyn Heights
Thanks to a loyal tipster who let us know B and B Empire opened yesterday at 200 Clinton Street. It’s serving up Montreal-style bagels but still has a pretty large breakfast and salad menu. Who’s been? Another tipster sent us photos (which you can see after the jump) of Carroll Gardens newcomer Smith Canteen. Grub Street wrote that is is a spinoff coffee bar and takeout shop from Seersucker, located right down the block at 343 Smith.

Williamsburg
Eater shares the details on the new restaurant coming to the Hotel Williamsburg called Pillar & Plough. It will serve “New York neighborhood food,” such as fancy tater tots, whole suckling pigs, and prime beef. The restaurant should open in the first weekend of July. From Grub Street, St. Anselm is reopening with beer, wine and a new grill at 355 Metropolitan Avenue. Lastly the Meeker Avenue Flea Market has gone out of business after its parent company declared bankruptcy.

Prospect and Crown Heights
Ample Hills, Vanderbilt’s new ice cream store that ran out of ice cream, is reopening today, reports the Patch. Apparently the owner has hired more staff to make the ice cream and replenished the stock. Brooklynian commenters notice a new coffee joint coming to Washington Avenue. A commenter also mentions that the City Brew Shop is moving into the old cake decorating store on Washington, and will soon sell supplies, run classes on how to brew beer, and allow people to brew beer in the shop. Awesome! On Franklin Avenue, a low-key wine bar to open up at #728 in the fall.
