New York Magazine takes a look inside Persons of Interest, the hipster barbershop we’ve been tracking at 299 Smith Street in Carroll Gardens since August. The storefront had been vacant since Sal, who owned a barbershop there, passed away. As a nod to the past, Persons of Interest kept the original barber chairs, the pole, and the tropical Day-Glo mural. But the $20 dollar haircuts are a thing of the past; cuts are now $40, but come with a massage and free beers.

  1. Quite possibly the funniest thing on earth is watching a girly hipster boy getting his hair cut. Sure, it looks like he just rolled out of bed and didn’t comb or wash it, but he will spend 10 minutes telling the barber how he wants it cut, and make the guy keep trimming random parts of his head after the cut is over.

  2. Taper the back, long enough to part.

I’m fine, got the morning off.

    Yeah, I watched that game.

    No shave.

    Yeah, trim my eyebrows, please.

    Looks sharp.

    Thanks, give me back $5.

    Take it easy.
