Last week, we broke the disturbing news that a woman was raped at the corner of Gates Avenue and Downing Street in Clinton Hill in the early morning hours of June 17th. The Times’ Local blog attended the 88th Precinct’s Community Meeting last night and provides more details on the incident. At around 4:45 a.m. a black male, approximately 35-40 years old and 180 pounds, apparently propositioned a 27-year-old woman on the corner who proceeded to get into his car where he proceeded to rape her at knife point; the woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital. If anyone has information that could help the investigation, call 1-800-577-TIPS.

really? i’d feel a lot more comfortable if i were a resident in Clinton Hill knowing the rape on my block was just a trick gone wrong, rather than a real life serial rapist wandering the streets and abducting people.

Rob is spot on about being prepared (though Clinton Hill isn’t exactly the ghetto, not all of it anyway). Why others of you chose to make a joke out of it is amazing to me. The circumstances are irrelevant. A violent crime happened and the perp has yet to be apprehended.
