Last week, we broke the disturbing news that a woman was raped at the corner of Gates Avenue and Downing Street in Clinton Hill in the early morning hours of June 17th. The Times’ Local blog attended the 88th Precinct’s Community Meeting last night and provides more details on the incident. At around 4:45 a.m. a black male, approximately 35-40 years old and 180 pounds, apparently propositioned a 27-year-old woman on the corner who proceeded to get into his car where he proceeded to rape her at knife point; the woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital. If anyone has information that could help the investigation, call 1-800-577-TIPS.

ditto what DH and Wasder said. It aint a free pass cause it’s a serious crime but it’s also a massive difference btwn what happened vs. a rapist attacking someone walking home late at night.
Back when Brooklyn was civilized and all these fine buildings were constructed, crime was low and there were no government restrictions on weapons.
Is it any coincidence that great architecture and an armed populace have gone together since antiquity? I think not.
