i wasnt necessarily thinking shopping or store sales lol.. more something fun and relevant, but at the same time irrelevant and totally tangential. like giant double dutch jump roping comptetitions in the street. seems like it would be lots of fun and bring people together of all races to enjoy and watch. it just seems like nothing ever goes on with this holiday.
Can you just picture it…MLK ice cream cakes, greeting cards, furniture sales, etc? It’s nice to have one holiday that’s not about shopping!! (especially since I’m poor now!)
zzzz im so bored. mlk jr. day is cool and it all, but what’s the point of having off, if there’s nothing specifically fun to do on it?! halloween has pumpkins and trick or treating and horror movies, xmas has presents and lites and trees, hannukaah has candles and presents, easter has eggs and candy and rabbits, 4th of july has fire works. mlk jr. day (and presidents day too but i have to work that day so i dont care) has nothing FUN going for it. people need to step it up a notch and make it a FUN holiday!!!!
i know some holidays are only historical in nature, but if it’s going to be a national holiday with things closed and stuff, it NEEDS to be made more fun and commercialized.
